Genesis 9:23

Genesis 9:23

Little Bible — for children and parents · Growth Figures · © Growth Figures. All rights reserved.

The care with which Shem and Japheth acted is remarkable — both brothers together, walking backward so as not to see, covering with deliberate gentleness. Their effort to honor their father goes beyond the minimum. This is the picture of love.

Memory phrase: Walk backward — honor above all.

Talk about it: Why did Shem and Japheth walk backward? What does that tell you about how much they cared about honoring their father?

Prayer: God, help me to be like Shem and Japheth — to choose honor and kindness even when it is hard.
