Roman law allowed soldiers to conscript civilians to carry burdens for one mile. Jesus tells His followers to go a second — voluntarily. This unexpected generosity transforms compulsion into a gift and demonstrates kingdom values.
Memory phrase: Go further than asked
Talk about it: If a friend needed your help and you helped more than they asked, how do you think they would feel?
Prayer: God, help me go beyond what I have to do when helping others. Make me a generous helper.
