Proverbs 17:1

A small and simple meal eaten in peace is of greater value than a lavish feast consumed in the atmosphere of conflict and strife. 'Sacrifices' here refers to the festive meals that accompanied temple offerings — abundant and celebratory by nature. The point is that relational peace cannot be replaced by material abundance. Harmony in the home is a gift more precious than prosperity.

Memory phrase: Peace beats plenty.

Talk about it: Why is a peaceful home better than a rich one?

Prayer: God, make our home full of peace.
