Proverbs 19:4

Solomon is making an observation about human nature, not a command. Wealth attracts people who want something; poverty drives them away. This is the world's way — using people for what they have rather than loving them for who they are. The proverb implicitly calls readers to be different: to value people regardless of their wealth.

Memory phrase: Love people, not things.

Talk about it: Should we choose friends because they are rich?

Prayer: God, help me love people for who they are, not what they have.
