Proverbs 20:2

Proverbs 20:2

Human authority, especially kingly authority, carries terrifying power. To provoke a ruler to anger is self-destructive — the harm comes back on the one who provoked. This teaches respect for authority as practical wisdom, not just obedience for obedience's sake. Behind earthly kings stands the ultimate King: God Himself.

Memory phrase: Respect those in charge.

Talk about it: Why is it wise to respect those who are in charge?

Prayer: God, help me respect the people You put in charge.
