The reason not to envy the wicked is clear: their apparent success has no future. The image of a candle being extinguished is vivid — the light of the wicked ends suddenly and completely. There is no eternal reward for those who reject God.
Memory phrase: The wicked's light goes out.
Talk about it: What does it mean that the wicked person's candle will be put out?
Prayer: God, help me always remember that Your way is the only lasting way.
