Proverbs 28:24

Proverbs 28:24

Rationalising theft from parents — 'it is no transgression' — is the picture of a heart deeply hardened to conscience. The person who does this is called a companion of a destroyer: they are in league with the most destructive kind of character. The excuse-making makes it worse, not better. Calling sin by a comfortable name does not reduce its gravity.

Memory phrase: Never excuse stealing from parents.

Talk about it: Why is making excuses for doing wrong just as serious as doing the wrong thing?

Prayer: God, help me never steal and never excuse doing wrong.
