Psalms 22:15

The extreme thirst of crucifixion — 'tongue cleaveth to my jaws' — is another detail fulfilled at the cross. John 19:28 records Jesus saying 'I thirst.' The dust of death is the lowest point: total mortality, total vulnerability.

Memory phrase: Jesus went to the lowest place — for us.
