Joel: While it is sufficiently evident that many of the variations of the names of persons have arisen from the carelessness of transcribers, or the inattention of translators, and others from a difference (probably dialectical) in the pronunciation; it is also evident, that the same persons, as in these instances, must have had two or more totally distinct names (1 Chronicles 6:24), Shaul, Uzziah, Uriel.
