The Eye Roll
Cynicism feels like wisdom, but it's really just scar tissue on your soul. It takes zero effort to be a critic, but it takes massive courage to keep hoping. Learn how to get your wonder back today. π
Devotional 7: "Blessed Is the One Whose Transgression Is Forgiven" β Psalm 32:1
"Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven." The lightness of that verse is something David felt in his bones. What are you carrying that you could put down today? β Ps. 32:1
The Desert
God pours water on the thirsty, not the full. If you're bored with God, it's because you're snacking on the world. Put down the junk food and get your hunger back.
The Second Conversion
Never trust a leader without a limp. A limp means they wrestled with God and lostβand that is the only way to win.
Devotional 5: "O God, You Are My God; Earnestly I Seek You" β Psalm 63:1
You can worship in the wilderness. David did β thirsty, fainting, and still singing. "O God, you are my God." That possessive is everything. β Ps. 63:1
Devotional 3: "Can a Man Carry Fire Next to His Chest?" β Proverbs 6:27
"Can a man carry fire next to his chest and his clothes not be burned?" No. Some dangers don't need better management. They need distance. β Prov. 6:27
Devotional 6: "Let the Nations Be Glad and Sing for Joy" β Psalm 67:4
Every blessing God gives you has a mission: "that your way may be known on earth." The grace doesn't stop with you. β Ps. 67:2
Devotional 2: "What Is Man, That You Are Mindful of Him?" β Psalm 8:4
The God who flung the stars also bends down to notice you. "What is man, that you are mindful of him?" The answer: everything. β Ps. 8:4
Devotional 4: "Wisdom Has Built Her House" β Proverbs 9:1
"Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn her seven pillars." Character is built, not born. One hew at a time. One choice at a time. What are you constructing? β Prov. 9:1
Devotional 8: "I Waited Patiently for the LORD" β Psalm 40:1
"I waited patiently for the LORD; he inclined to me." The God of the universe bent toward your cry. The wait is not wasted. β Ps. 40:1
The Weaned Child
A baby only wants its mother for milk. A weaned child just wants its mother's presence. Are you using God for what He can give you, or do you actually just want Him?
Devotional 1: "As a Deer Pants for Flowing Streams" β Psalm 42:1
"As a deer pants for flowing streams, so pants my soul for you." Honest thirst and a clear direction β that's already prayer. β Ps. 42:1
The Silent Teacher
Does it feel like God is ignoring your prayers? Remember this: The Teacher is always quiet during the test. He hasn't left the room; He's waiting to see your answer.
Devotional 7: "There Is a Way That Seems Right to a Man" β Proverbs 14:12
"There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death." The most dangerous roads are the ones that look fine all the way to the cliff. Submit your direction. β Prov. 14:12
Devotional 5: "Oh Give Thanks to the LORD; Call Upon His Name" β Psalm 105:1
"Make known his deeds among the peoples!" Your testimony isn't just for you. It is for the next person who needs to know what God can do. β Ps. 105:1
Devotional 2: "God Is Our Refuge and Strength" β Psalm 46:1
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble." He doesn't show up when things settle. He was there while they were shaking. β Ps. 46:1
Devotional 6: "How Shall We Sing the LORD's Song?" β Psalm 137:4
"How shall we sing the LORD's song in a foreign land?" You find a way. Because the song belongs to a Person, not a place β and He is everywhere. β Ps. 137:4
Devotional 4: "The LORD Is My Rock" β Psalm 18:2
Seven names. Seven testimonies of a God who showed up. "The LORD is my rockβ¦ my stronghold." β Ps. 18:2. How many names can you give Him from your own story?
Devotional 5: "The Heavens Declare the Glory of God" β Psalm 19:1
The sky speaks. The word speaks. Both say the same name. "The heavens declare the glory of God." β Ps. 19:1. Look up today. Then open the Book.
Devotional 3: "Create in Me a Clean Heart" β Psalm 51:10
David didn't ask God to help him do better. He asked for a new heart. "Create in me, O God." Only the Creator can do that. β Ps. 51:10
Devotional 6: "The Fear of the LORD Is the Beginning of Wisdom" β Psalm 111:10
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom." Not the graduation from it β the beginning of it. You never outgrow needing to remember who He is. β Ps. 111:10
The Most Important Job
Ryle said the most neglected verse in the Bible might be Proverbs 22:6. We love the promise but skip the work. Train β not hope, not wish, not expose. Train. What are you specifically doing?
Devotional 6: "The LORD Is My Shepherd" β Psalm 23:1
"The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want." The most comforting sentence in the world is also the most demanding β it asks us to actually trust Him with every want. β Ps. 23:1
The Oars and the Sail
Revival starts in a circle drawn around one person. You stand in the middle and say, "Lord, revive everything inside this circle." Stop looking at the "dead church" out there; look at the cold heart in here. Pray this simple prayer today: "Lord, I am tired of rowing. I need Your Wind. Revive
The Thermostat
Are you a thermometer (changing with the room) or a thermostat (changing the room)? A true disciple brings peace into chaos.
Devotional 8: "The Stone the Builders Rejected" β Psalm 118:22
"The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone. This is the LORD's doing." Rejection is not the last word. It never has been. β Ps. 118:22
Devotional 5: "Iron Sharpens Iron" β Proverbs 27:17
"Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another." The friendships that make you better are rarely the easiest ones. Seek the friction. β Prov. 27:17
Devotional 8: "I Will Sing of the Steadfast Loves of the LORD Forever" β Psalm 89:1
"I will sing of the steadfast love of the LORD, forever." Ethan wrote that at the beginning of a psalm that ends in lament. That's what forever sounds like. β Ps. 89:1
The Bread and the Light
The Bible is not just a map for emergencies; it is the bread for daily survival. Don't let your spiritual battery die. You need daily light and daily food to walk the path. Open the book, eat the word, and gain your strength.
The Eulogy
We spend our lives building a ResumΓ©, but people only remember our Eulogy. Stop working for things that won't fit in a coffin. Live for what lasts.
Devotional 8: "Charm Is Deceptive, and Beauty Is Fleeting" β Proverbs 31:30
"Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised." The fear of the LORD is the root. Everything else is fruit. Grow the root. β Prov. 31:30
