"For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms."
(Ephesians 6:12)Imagine you are sitting in a perfectly silent room. You think you are alone. It feels empty. But if you bring a radio into that room and turn the dial, suddenly the room is filled with voices, music, news reports, and static.
Where did the noise come from? Did the radio create it?No. The radio waves were there the whole time. They were bouncing off the walls and passing through your body. You just didn't have the equipment to hear them.
This is the reality of Spiritual Warfare .We live in a "Two-Tiered" universe. The Natural Realm: What you can see, touch, and test (atoms, gravity, coffee, people). The Spiritual Realm: What is invisible but equally real (angels, demons, the Holy Spirit, the human soul).
Western culture (Materialism) tries to tell you that only the Natural Realm exists. It says demons are just medieval superstitions for people who didn't understand mental illness. But the Bible is clear: There is a war going on right now.
Just because you can't see the bullets doesn't mean you aren't in the crossfire. The biggest trick of the enemy is to make you think he doesn't exist. If you think you are at a picnic when you are actually on a battlefield, you will be an easy target.
Digging Deeper
(Tap to expand)Theologically, who is the Enemy? The Bible calls him Satan (The Adversary) or The Devil (The Slanderer). He is not a "god of evil" (equal to God). He is a created being—a fallen angel. He is not omnipresent (he can't be everywhere at once).
He is not omniscient (he doesn't know everything). He is not all-powerful (he is on a leash held by God). The Nature of the Fight:Notice Ephesians 6:12 again: "Our struggle is not against flesh and blood."
This is the most practical verse in the Bible for relationships. Your spouse is not the enemy.Your annoying boss is not the enemy. The corrupt politician is not the enemy. They might be used by the enemy, or they might be victims of the enemy, but they are flesh and blood.
Therefore, they are not the true target. When you fight people, you lose the real war. When you realize the spiritual influence behind the conflict, you stop arguing and start praying. Reflect on this:Think of a conflict you are having right now.
Are you attacking the person? If you could see the "radio waves"—if you could see the spiritual discouragement or lies that are attacking that person—would you have more compassion for them? 👣 Take a Step Wake up to the war.
You don't need to be afraid (Jesus has already won the war), but you need to be alert. Action: Identify one area of "chaos" in your life (unexplained anxiety, constant fighting in your home, nightmares).
Stop trying to fix it with just logic. Pray specifically against the influence behind it: "In the name of Jesus, I command any spirit of chaos to leave my home." See what happens when you address the radio waves, not just the radio.
