The Second Conversion

Never trust a leader without a limp. A limp means they wrestled with God and lost—and that is the only way to win.

"The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." () Many old saints spoke of a "Second Conversion." The First Conversion is when you realize you need Jesus to save you from Hell.

You give Him your sins. You are saved. This is the start. The Second Conversion often happens years later. This is when you realize you need Jesus to save you from yourself . You give Him your "righteousness," your ministry, and your strengths.

This usually happens in a crisis—what leaders call "The Wall." You hit a point where your talents, your charm, and your hard work stop working. You burn out. You fail morally. You face a tragedy. At the First Conversion, you learn that God is Good .

At the Second Conversion, you learn that God is Enough . Until you hit The Wall, your faith is often fueled by your own energy. After The Wall, if you survive it with God, your faith is fueled by deep dependency.

You limp, like Jacob after wrestling with God (Genesis 32). But never trust a leader who doesn't have a limp. The limp proves they have met God and lost the fight.

Digging Deeper

Theologically, this is the difference between Peter before the Rooster and Peter after the Rooster . Before: Peter was confident. "I will die for you!" He drew his sword. He was full of "fleshly zeal."

He failed. After: Peter was humbled. He wept bitterly. He knew he was weak. And that was the moment he became ready to lead the Church. God cannot trust a man with power until that man has learned he is nothing without God.

Reflect on this: Are you at The Wall? Do you feel like your faith isn't "working" like it used to? Does God feel distant? Do not turn back. Do not fake it. Stay at the wall. Wait on God. This is where the deep work is happening.

The transition from "Doing for God" to "Being with God" is painful, but necessary. 👣 Take a Step Action: Stop striving. If you are in a dry season, stop trying to manufacture emotion. Sit in silence for 10 minutes today.

Do not pray. Do not read. Just sit and say: "Lord, I have nothing to offer you today but my emptiness. I trust You to fill it in Your time."
