"Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control." (Proverbs 25:28) Look at the wall of a typical house. You will usually find two devices: a Thermometer and a Thermostat . A Thermometer reflects the room.
If the room is hot, the red line goes up. If the room is cold, it goes down. It has no power. It is a victim of its environment. A Thermostat sets the room. If the room is cold, it kicks on the heater.
It forces the environment to change to match its setting. Most people live like Thermometers. They walk into a meeting at work, sense everyone is angry, and they become angry too. They walk into a room where people are gossiping, and they join the gossip.
They just mirror the world around them. A disciple with Kingdom Authority is a Thermostat . You walk into a chaotic, stressful room and you bring peace. You walk into a fearful conversation and you bring faith.
You don't let the room change you; you change the room. You carry the "Climate of Heaven" inside you.
Digging Deeper
This is why Self-Control is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. If you cannot control your own emotions, you cannot control a situation. Jesus was the ultimate Thermostat. On the sinking boat, the disciples were panicking (Thermometers).
Jesus was fast asleep (Thermostat). When He woke up, He didn't join their panic. He forced the storm to join His peace. "Peace, be still." The person with the most internal peace holds the most spiritual authority in any room.
Reflect on this: What happens when you walk into your house after a terrible day at work? Do you bring your bad mood inside and ruin the evening (Thermometer)? Or do you pause at the door, pray, and choose to bring joy inside (Thermostat)?
👣 Take a Step Action: Set the Temperature. Before you walk into your next environment today (the office, your home, a meeting), pause at the door. Decide right then: "I am bringing Peace into this room."
Walk in. When others complain, counter it with gratitude. Watch the room shift.
