"Sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth." (John 17:17) Imagine a pilot flying a plane into a thick, dark storm cloud. Suddenly, he can’t see the sky or the ground. His inner ear and his feelings tell him the plane is flying straight.
But his Dashboard Instruments tell him the plane is actually upside down and diving toward the ground. He has a life-or-death choice to make: Trust his Feelings ("I feel like I'm safe"). Trust his Instruments ("The truth says I'm crashing").
If he follows his feelings, he dies. To survive the storm, he must ignore his emotions and obey the control panel. We live in a culture that says, "Live your truth!" People say, "That might be true for you, but it's not true for me."
This is spiritual dizziness. Truth is not a flavor of ice cream that changes based on what you prefer. Truth is like gravity. Gravity doesn't care if you "believe" in it. If you step off a roof, you fall.
God's Word doesn't care if you "feel" it is right. It is reality. A disciple trains their mind to trust the Instrument Panel (The Bible), even when their emotions are screaming that the Bible is wrong.
Digging Deeper
The Bible claims to be Objective Truth. It is not just a collection of ancient people's feelings about God; it is God revealing what is actually real. Jesus didn't say, "I am a good custom option for your life."
He said, "I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life" (John 14:6). When your feelings contradict the Bible, your feelings are lying. Reflect on this: Where do your feelings clash with Scripture? Feeling: "God has abandoned me."
Instrument: "I will never leave you." Feeling: "This little sin won't hurt me." Instrument: "The wages of sin is death." Fly by the instruments, not your feelings. 👣 Take a Step Action: Trust the Dashboard.
Identify one lie your emotions are telling you today (like "I am worthless"). Find one specific Bible verse that proves it wrong. Say out loud: "My feelings are real, but they are not the truth. God's Word is the truth."
