"The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world... they have divine power to demolish strongholds." (2 Corinthians 10:4) Imagine a beautiful, green field. But right in the middle of it is a dark, thick stone Fortress .
Inside that fortress, an enemy sniper is hiding. From behind the high, safe walls, he shoots arrows at you every single day. You can spend your entire life swatting at the arrows, but until you tear down that stone fortress, the enemy is completely safe.
A Stronghold is a lie that has built a fortress in your mind. It is a negative thought pattern that you have believed for so many years, it has turned into a solid brick wall. "I will always be addicted to this."
(The Stronghold of Hopelessness). "I have to perform perfectly for people to love me." (The Stronghold of Performance). "God is permanently disappointed in me." (The Stronghold of Shame). Most Christians just try to fight their bad behaviors (the arrows).
But they leave the false beliefs (the fortress) standing tall. Spiritual warfare is not just shouting at the devil; it is Demolition Work . You have to identify the exact Lie the enemy is hiding behind and smash it with the Hammer of God's Truth.
Digging Deeper
Paul says we have "Divine Power" (like spiritual dynamite) to destroy these mental prisons. How do you do it? By aggressively replacing the Lie with the Truth. The Lie: "I am worthless and unlovable."
The Dynamite: "I was bought with the precious blood of Christ." You cannot fight a toxic thought with just a feeling. You have to fight a thought with the Word. When Jesus fought Satan in the desert, He didn't argue.
He simply said, "It is written," and quoted Scripture. Reflect on this: What is the oldest, deepest lie you believe about yourself? Is it "I'm ugly"? "I'm stupid"? "I'm damaged goods"? That is a stronghold.
Stop agreeing with it. Start attacking it today. ๐ฃ Take a Step Action: Name the Fortress. Write down the number one negative thought that haunts your mind. Draw a circle around it. Now, find ONE Bible verse that proves it is a lie.
Write that verse in huge letters over the circle. Every time the thought attacks today, say the verse out loud.
