"See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop, patiently waiting for the autumn and spring rains." (James 5:7) Imagine two ways to cook food. The Microwave: It takes 2 minutes. The food gets hot, but it often gets rubbery.
It heats from the outside in. It is fast, but the flavor is shallow. The Crockpot (Slow Cooker): It takes 8 hours. The heat goes deep into the meat. The fibers break down. The flavor becomes rich. The meat falls off the bone.
We live in a Microwave Culture . We want instant results. "I want a great marriage right now." "I want to be a spiritual giant right now." But God is a Crockpot Cook . He is rarely in a hurry. He is not interested in "heating you up" quickly (emotional hype).
He is interested in breaking down the tough fibers of your pride and marinating you in His grace. That takes time. If you force a harvest, you get unripe fruit. If you rush the cooking, you get tough meat.
Digging Deeper
God lives in Kairos (perfect timing), while we live in Chronos (clock time). Moses waited 40 years in the desert. David waited 15 years to be King. Jesus waited 30 years to start His ministry. If God makes you wait, you are in good company.
He isn't ignoring you; He is marinating you. Fast growth is usually cancer; healthy growth is slow. Reflect on this: Are you frustrated with God's speed? Do you feel like He is "late"? Trust the Chef.
He knows exactly when you are ready. ๐ฃ Take a Step Action: The Slow Down. Deliberately do something slow today. Walk instead of drive. Read a physical book instead of scrolling. Pray: "Lord, take me out of the microwave.
Put me in the crockpot. I don't mind the heat as long as the work is deep."
