"My prayer is not that you take them out of the world but that you protect them from the evil one." (John 17:15) Imagine a high-voltage electrical wire. Inside, there is copper. It carries the power.
Outside, there is rubber insulation. It separates the copper from everything else. If you take the wire out of the house , it is useless. It can't power the lights. If you strip the rubber off while it's in the house, it is dangerous.
It touches the wall, sparks, and starts a fire. To be useful, the wire must be In the house, but Insulated from the house. This is the balance of Holiness . Monks try to take the wire out of the house (Isolation).
They hide from sinners. That is wrong. Compromisers strip off the insulation (Worldliness). They become just like sinners. That is dangerous. You are called to be an Insulated Wire . You must be right in the middle of the dark places (In the world), but you must keep your "Rubber" (Holiness) intact.
You touch people with love, but you don't let their sin touch your heart.
Digging Deeper
Holiness is not Distance ; it is Distinction . Jesus dined with tax collectors (Proximity), but He never sinned (Purity). He was the ultimate Insulated Wire. He brought the power of God into the darkest rooms without short-circuiting.
Many of us lose our power because we lose our insulation. We start talking like the world and acting like the world, and suddenly, the "spark" is gone. Reflect on this: Check your insulation. Are you engaging with lost people?
(If no, you are disconnected). Are you becoming like them? (If yes, you are exposed). The goal is Contact without Contamination . 👣 Take a Step Action: The Power Check. Go into a "dark place" this week (a secular party, a gym, a lunchroom).
But go with a plan. Wear your insulation (Prayer). Be friendly, but do not compromise. Carry the current; don't start a fire.
