"For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands." (2 Timothy 1:6) Imagine a single candle burning in a dark room. Now, imagine you use that candle to light another candle.
And then another. Does the first candle lose any fire? Does it get dimmer because it shared its light? No. Fire multiplies. It does not divide. In fact, the room gets brighter. The total amount of fire in the room increases, but the original candle loses nothing.
This is the law of Spiritual Impartation . Many Christians are afraid to share their faith or mentor others because they think, "I don't have enough for myself! If I give energy to them, I'll be empty."
That is water logic, not fire logic. If you pour water, you have less. If you share fire, you have more. A fire that is contained in a box will eventually suffocate and die. A fire that spreads grows hotter.
If your spiritual life feels stagnant, it might be because you aren't lighting anyone else's candle.
Digging Deeper
Paul told Timothy to "entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others" (2 Timothy 2:2). This is Discipleship . God’s plan for the world wasn't a megaphone; it was a multiplication of fires.
A "Burning Heart" is contagious. John Wesley said: "I set myself on fire, and people come to watch me burn." You don't need a sermon outline to reach people; you just need to be on fire. People are attracted to heat.
Reflect on this: Who are you lighting? Do you have a younger believer, a child, or a friend you are pouring into? If you are just hoarding the fire, it will suffocate. Find a candle and light it. 👣 Take a Step Action: Pass the Flame.
Send a text to a younger believer or a friend who is struggling. Share one verse that helped you this week. Say: "This lit me up, and I wanted to share the light with you."
