devotionPsalms 90:12THE LONG OBEDIENCE

The Eulogy

We spend our lives building a Resumé, but people only remember our Eulogy. Stop working for things that won't fit in a coffin. Live for what lasts.

"Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom." () Imagine your own Funeral. You are in the casket. All your friends, family, and coworkers are there. One by one, they stand up to speak.

What do they say? "He had a really nice car." "She was always stressed about emails." "He had a lot of followers on Twitter." No. Nobody talks about that stuff at a funeral. They talk about Character .

"He was kind when no one was looking." "She loved us sacrificially." "He kept his promises." We spend our lives building a Resumé (Achievements). But at the end, people only care about your Eulogy (Character).

Why do we spend 90% of our energy on the Resumé and only 10% on the Eulogy? To "number your days" means to realize the clock is ticking. You don't have time to waste on petty fights, greed, or bitterness.

You are writing your eulogy right now with your actions.

Digging Deeper

This is the perspective of Mortality . The world says: "Ignore death. Pretend you will live forever." The Bible says: "Remember you are dust." Thinking about death is actually healthy. It clarifies what matters.

When you know the movie is going to end, you stop wasting time on the boring scenes. You focus on the plot. Live today in a way that you will want to be remembered tomorrow. Reflect on this: If you died today, would you be happy with what is said at your funeral?

If not, the good news is: You are not dead yet. You can edit the script. You can change the story. Start living for the Eulogy, not the Resumé. 👣 Take a Step Action: The Backward Look. Write down one sentence you want said about you when you die.

(e.g., "He was the most generous man I knew." ) Now, do ONE thing today that makes that sentence true.
