Bible Commentary

Genesis 10:10

Babel — the city built on human ambition — begins here. Nimrod lays the foundation for the empire that will become Babylon. The city built for human glory would become the symbol of human pride throughout Scripture.

Memory phrase: Human empires built without God will fall.

Talk about it: What do you know about the city of Babel? We are going to read more about it soon in Genesis 11!

Prayer: God, help me build my life on You — not on my own ambition or pride.
