Genesis 13:1

The return from Egypt mirrors a pattern that will recur in Israel's history — a journey down to Egypt in time of need, and a return with great wealth. Abram's return is not triumphant — he is returning chastened. But he is returning to the Promised Land, to the altar, to the call. The direction is right again.

Memory phrase: When we stray, we can always return to where God called us.

Talk about it: Abram went back to Canaan after his mistake in Egypt. Have you ever had to go back and start again after getting it wrong? How did that feel?

Prayer: God, when I wander from where You called me, help me find my way back. Thank You that You always welcome us home.
