Abram's offer is breathtaking. He has the right — as elder, as the one called, as the one who brought Lot — to choose first. But he gives the entire choice to Lot. Why? Because Abram trusts that God is the true owner of the land and will give him what God intends — regardless of which portion Lot chooses. This is faith operating as generosity.
