Genesis 13:11

Lot chooses based on what his eyes saw — the beautiful, well-watered plain. He 'journeyed east' — which in Genesis carries a loaded connotation. East of Eden (Gen 3:24), east toward Babel (Gen 11:2) — east is often the direction of those who move away from God's specific purposes. Lot and Abram separate. The covenant line and the secondary line diverge here.

Memory phrase: Some separations are necessary — trust God with them.

Talk about it: It can be sad when two people who have been on the same journey have to go different ways. How do you handle it when a friendship or relationship changes?

Prayer: God, when relationships change or people go different ways, help me trust You with the separation and keep moving in the direction You are leading me.
