Genesis 13:12

The contrast is stark: Abram — in Canaan, the Promised Land; Lot — in the cities of the plain, tent facing Sodom. This is not just geography; it is spiritual direction. 'Pitched his tent toward Sodom' is one of the most ominous lines in the early chapters of Genesis. By Genesis 14, Lot is 'in Sodom.' By Genesis 19, he is sitting at Sodom's gate — a city elder. One small step toward Sodom at a time.

Memory phrase: The direction you face shapes where you end up.

Talk about it: Lot only started out 'facing toward' Sodom — he wasn't in it yet. Why does the direction we're facing matter so much?

Prayer: God, show me what I am facing toward. If it is leading me away from You, give me the courage to turn around.
