Matthew 9:9

Matthew 9:9

Tax collectors were despised as traitors — they worked for Rome and often cheated their own people. Jesus chose one as a disciple. This is radical grace. Matthew's immediate response — leaving his lucrative post — shows the power of Jesus' call.

Memory phrase: Jesus calls the unexpected

Talk about it: Tax collectors were hated. Why do you think Jesus chose Matthew?

Prayer: Jesus, thank You for calling people that others give up on. Thank You for calling me.
