Desire without action produces nothing. The sluggard's wants are real, but wanting without working cannot produce results. The diligent person, by contrast, sees their soul 'made fat' — a Hebrew picture of abundance, satisfaction, and flourishing. Diligence turns desire into reality.
Memory phrase: Diligence fills the soul.
Talk about it: What is something you want but have not worked toward yet?
Prayer: God, help me work hard and not be lazy.
