Proverbs 19:18

Proverbs 19:18

Discipline is urgent and time-sensitive: there is a window of hope in which correction shapes a child's character. Missing that window is a parental failure. The instruction not to spare for crying means that a child's emotional protest should not stop necessary correction — love sometimes means persisting through discomfort for the child's long-term good. This is not cruelty; it is urgent love.

Memory phrase: Correct now, while there is hope.

Talk about it: Why is correcting a child early an act of love?

Prayer: God, help parents love their children with wise correction.
