Proverbs 23:6

The 'evil eye' in Hebrew idiom refers to a miserly, selfish person. What looks like generosity from such a person is not real — it comes with resentment or a hidden price. Wisdom recognises false generosity and refuses to be drawn in by it.

Memory phrase: Beware of false generosity.

Talk about it: How can you tell if someone is truly being kind or just pretending?

Prayer: God, help me see when kindness is not real.
