Proverbs 23:34

The images are vivid and terrifying: lying in the sea's midst is to be in mortal danger without solid ground; lying on top of a mast is to be in danger of falling at any moment. The drunkard is oblivious to their extreme vulnerability. This is among the most dramatic consequence descriptions in all of Proverbs.

Memory phrase: Sin leaves you in real danger.

Talk about it: What does it mean to be in danger without even knowing it? How can wisdom protect you?

Prayer: God, keep me from danger I cannot see. Open my eyes.
