Genesis 13:14

The timing is crucial: God speaks immediately after Lot's departure. Abram's act of generosity — giving Lot the first choice — is met immediately by God's confirming word. The four directions — north, south, east, west — are the ancient formula for totality. Lot chose one well-watered valley; God is about to give Abram everything in every direction.

Memory phrase: Generosity opens our eyes to see what God has prepared.

Talk about it: Abram had just given Lot the choice of the land. Now God tells Abram to look in EVERY direction. What does that tell you about how God rewards generosity?

Prayer: God, when I give up something for You or for others, open my eyes wider to see what You have prepared for me in every direction.
