Genesis 13:15

The eternal gift of the land to Abram and his seed is reconfirmed here with the word 'forever.' Lot chose the best-watered valley; God gives Abram the entire land including that valley and more. Lot's portion will be destroyed in Genesis 19. Abram's faith-filled generosity is vindicated magnificently. The promise of 'seed' here anticipates the ultimate Seed — Jesus Christ (Galatians 3:16).

Memory phrase: You cannot out-give God.

Talk about it: Abram let Lot take the best-looking land. But God gave Abram ALL the land — even the part Lot took. How does that show that you cannot out-give God?

Prayer: God, help me trust that when I give generously — even giving up what looks best — You will give me something so much greater than what I could have taken for myself.
