Melchizedek is one of the most extraordinary figures in all of Scripture. He appears suddenly, with no genealogy, as king of Salem (likely Jerusalem) and priest of El Elyon — God Most High. He brings bread and wine — gifts of hospitality and blessing. Psalm 110:4 calls the coming Messiah 'a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.' Hebrews 5–7 develops this as a type of Christ.
Memory phrase: God blesses us through unexpected people.
Talk about it: Melchizedek came out of nowhere with bread and wine. Has a stranger ever been kind to you at just the right moment?
Prayer: God, thank You for sending people to bless and encourage me at just the right moment. Help me be that person for others too.
