Genesis 14:19

The blessing of Abram by Melchizedek is a priestly act. The title 'possessor of heaven and earth' (El Elyon, qoneh shamayim va'aretz) establishes that Abram's God is not a local deity but the universal Creator. This will be important when Abram refuses the king of Sodom's offer — he will use this very name for God.

Memory phrase: All we have and all we are belongs to God Most High.

Talk about it: Melchizedek said Abram was blessed by God who owns heaven and earth. What does it mean that God owns everything?

Prayer: God Most High, You made everything. Help me remember that everything I have comes from You.
